About Us

We were inspired to call our company Avalon Caterers because of the King Arthur tales I read as a child. I was captivated by the isle of Avalon, a mysterious place shrouded in mist, where crops were abundant, self-sustaining, and the people who ate these miraculous foods lived for hundreds of years. The isle of Avalon was inhabited by nine enchantresses, all sisters. Wounded warriors were sent to the sisters to be fed, healed, and returned to the battlefield to fight for the kingdom.

We’ve applied this thinking to our Avalon, in the hope that you’ll find the food will do for you, as modern warriors, what it did for warriors of legend.

"But now farewell. I am going a long way
To the island-valley of Avilion;
Where falls not hail, or rain, or any snow,
Nor ever wind blows loudly; but it lies
Deep-meadowed, happy, fair with orchard lawns
And bowery hollows crowned with summer sea,
Where I will heal me of my grievous wound."

The Passing of Arthur,
Idylls of the King by Alfred,
Lord Tennyson
